ABOUT THE HONOREES
One of America’s most recognized and original social commentators, Barbara Ehrenreich is a journalist and author of numerous books, including the New York Times best-sellers Nickel & Dimed, Dancing in the Streets and her latest book Bright-Sided: How the Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking Has Undermined America. Her personal experience with breast cancer led to her critical and poignant writings about pink cause marketing and the cheerful commercialization of breast cancer. Barbara has appeared on The Daily Show, NPR, and Democracy Now! She is an avid supporter of Breast Cancer Action's work.
Rachel Morello-Frosch, PhD, MPH
Rachel is an Associate Professor at UC Berkeley's School of Public Health who focuses on environmental health and justice. Her work has shed light on how race and class affect pollution exposures and cancer risk. She is a leader in the field of health equity and formerly served as president of the board for Breast Cancer Action.
Belle Shayer
Belle is Breast Cancer Action's only living founder. She is a lifelong women's heath activist and while undergoing treatment for breast cancer, Belle helped to uncover the dangers of rBGH, which eventually lead to Breast Cancer Action's Milking Cancer campaign, demanding Eli Lilly to stop manufacturing the toxic growth hormone.
ABOUT THE EMCEE
Anne Lamott
