30th Anniversary Kickoff Reception

Postponed Until Further Notice

We’ve been so looking forward to gathering with our community for our 30th Anniversary Kickoff Reception, but with growing concerns about community spread of Covid-19, we have decided to postpone the event.

Luckily, none of our staff or members are known or suspected to have Covid19. But we are following the recommendation of the California Department of Public Health, as well as the recent decision by the City of San Francisco, to cancel all non-essential gatherings in an attempt to slow the spread of the Coronavirus.

Thank you for your understanding as we do our part to ensure the health and safety of our community, which includes older people and people being treated for cancer.

Stay tuned for a new date.

About our Speaker: Julie Morgan

Julie, second from the left, at our annual Action Speaks Louder Than Pink — Food For Thought fundraiser.

Julie Morgan is a former Board member, a long-time volunteer, and a beloved member of the Breast Cancer Action community. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 at the age of 37, she joined our Board in 2012. She was initially inspired to volunteer for BCAction after attending a screening of Pink Ribbons Inc., realizing how prevalent pinkwashing is in our society and what little funding actually goes toward addressing and ending the epidemic. A nurse by profession, Julie truly understands the damage that corporate greed causes to our health and well-being, as well as understanding the need for systemic change.  Her good humor, kindness, and generosity of spirit belie the brutal truth about the effects breast cancer has on the people living with the disease and their families. She has been a particular champion of those living with metastatic disease. We are honored that Julie has agreed to say a few words at this event.

Thank you to our sponsors!
